As most of you know, we’ve been in this business for a long, long time. Walk through our halls and you’ll run into scanners, film processors, printers and a team of digital production that have been with us for over 20 years. Some customer service reps have been writing up film orders for over 10 years! We want to take care of you and your film, and we value our employees as artists that know the craft and understand the business of film. They’re really good at what they do, they’ve seen it all and they’ve watched the film industry grow.

We take a look around here and are so proud of the fact that our core competencies, including film processing, scanning and printing are in the hands of such talented artists right here. They’ve witnessed the film industry trends first hand, and remember the days when the film they processed were E6 and rolls of Kodachrome.

We’ve had requests here and there for E6 film processing so we’ve decided to go back to where it all started and offer this service here in house. We’ve been testing our E6 machine for a few weeks now and we’re excited to say that its tested and ready to go! So send in any slide film you have, we’re here ready to take care of it as we have all these years.

We’re so grateful for getting the chance to work with Stephen Kozowyk for his upcoming show this weekend in partnership with the Hear Aid Foundation. If you’re in the LA/Orange County area, be sure to come out and experience Stephen’s photography and a wine tasting by Anne’s Boutique to go along with it. Wedding season is in full swing and we’re crazy busy just as most of our clients are. Some daily grinds can be stressful, but it’s important that we remind ourselves why what we do matters and why our goals for each season are so important. We’re proud of what we do here, and we’re proud to say these are our top priorities this year:

1. We’re super busy but we’re keeping our turn-around times at about 1 week for Noritsu and 2 weeks for Frontier. Production is working overtime to make this happen and we’re committed to keeping this a promise to you.
2. Our new FTP system allows for your scans to be saved and posted for 30 days, giving you time to download
3. We maintain incredibly high expectations for our production team and the vendors we work with (Fuji knows we’re a pain!)
4. Scheduling weekly webinars to help you with business and marketing tips. We’ve learned a lot over the 20+ years working with the best photographers in the industry and we want to share with you what we know.
5. Continuously researching new and in-demand products to make available on our print service powered by ROES.
6. We’ve teamed with Instaproofs, Inc to now offer direct fulfillment – talk about a time saver!
7. Attending workshops so we can meet you in person to get to know you, chat about business best practices, and answer all the questions you might have for a lab.

There’s been a small change with the way we sleeve our 35mm film negatives and wanted to give you guys a heads up on how you’ll be receiving them from here on out. Keep in mind, this is 35mm only!

The clear sleeves we’ve used in the past (see below left photo) are no longer being manufactured and we’ve run out of the current inventory we have. Unfortunately there is no other company that manufactures these exact type of sleeves, forcing us to restructure the way we send out these particular negs.

The good news is that we have a supply of archival glassine sleeves that we currently use for sleeving traditional black and white negs (see below right photo). These new sleeves look drastically different, but store your negs just as safe and secure as before. We’ve decided to use these glassine for all 35mm neg sleeving.

Or, if you’d rather not buy a box and opt for something a little cheaper, we did a project here where we took a 8×10 envelope, put three whole punch through it and you can store the negs that way. What started as a show of behind the scenes education and inspiration has now transitioned into an incredibly cool, free and interactive interface that features shows, tools, applications and a community sanctuary for the aspiring and professional photographer. Artists will be able to join in by creating their own [F] Network “passport” which ultimately gives the participant full access to the entire network. Members of the network will then be able to participate in giveaways (we’ve got a few giveaways throughout the season!) interactive homework sections, collaborations, contests and connections.

We’re especially excited about the brand new show, Film launching May 11^th. Watch film photographers and friends Ryan Muirhead, Tanja Lippert and Tia Reagan as they bring us the entertaining, emotional rollercoaster of the love, education, hardship and challenges of being a photographer.
