General

Simple word of mouth. In this digital era, the community of professionals who shoot film is pretty tight, and once people realized we did things the right way, it was impossible to keep word from getting around.

Actually, no. While we’re more than happy to work with people who send us hundreds of rolls of film at a time, we’ll gladly process a roll or two if that’s what you’ve got. Plus, self-service printing is for anyone, not just pros. Just download the app, upload your images, edit them to your satisfaction, then order your prints.

Wrong-o! Although a lot of our big name clients shoot film, we actually primarily work with digital and hybrid shooters. Our highly trained and skilled post production staff will absolutely blow your mind with the post they can do on your images. We work not only with really great wedding photographers, but also some of the coolest photography in the commercial and editorial business. We also do post production and color correction for some really big name clients, but due to privacy we can't talk about most of them!

We’d be happy to offer cut-rate prices if our clients were happy with cut-rate service. But our clients are some of the most demanding around, and they require the consistency and attention to detail that only we provide. So we offer a premium service and our prices reflect the value that represents.

Let’s face it: even people who can deftly manipulate F-stops, shutter speeds and lighting angles can be all thumbs when a mouse is involved. And there’s little more frustrating than staring blankly at a screen at 2 a.m., wondering why the colors still don’t look right. Many find that allowing us to sweat that for them removes hours of useless toil and stress.

Actually, we think you may be surprised how reasonably priced this service is. And when you do the math and understand that spending less time on the computer allows you to shoot (and bill) more, you may find that it makes perfect sense for you.

Our team is highly skilled at what they do. We don't just hire any kid off the street that has some photoshop experience. We're professionals and our production team goes through a rigorous interview process before we can determine whether or not they're a fit for our team. We have years of experience, and work with all levels of photographers. No job is too big or small for us. Another reason why we're priced differently than other labs is because we take the time and energy in determining your style and how you like your images to look. We've flipped the lab model here, we're correcting to YOUR specs, not just ours! Take that one step further and you've got yourself a Color PAC (scroll below for more details).

We are big fans of Instaproofs, Inc! They're motto is "sell more prints" and boy do they mean it. Quick, easy and no set up fees is what they're all about and they make it simple for your clients to order. Try them out: www.instaproofs.com

We're going too and we'd love to meet and hang out with you! Contact angela.marcaccio@richardphotolab.com, she's the coordinator on all things WPPI related. We'll also be checking out Photo Plus Expo in NYC this year too, not exhibiting but walking around and checking out all the cool things there. Ask us about that one too!

Color PAC

Photographers usually have specific preferences about the choices we make in our processing. A Color PAC serves as a guide. We print a selection of images from a particular photographer and make sure our subsequent work matches what we see.

A RPL Color PAC is available for anyone. However, if you do a certain amount of business with us within a year, the charge for the service is refunded.

Absolutely. You may always ask for an existing color profile to serve as a guide for the processing of your images at no extra cost. (Keep in mind that duplicating the processing choices of a photographer you admire is no guarantee that your shots will look like his or hers.)

Logistics

First fill out the Customer Order Form. If you’re an international client, please fill out the International Order Form. Then safely package your film along with the Customer Order Form in a box and send it to us here, using your favorite shipper. If you’d like us to save your credit card for future orders, please also include the CC Authorization Form.

Mail the film directly to us here: 979 North La Brea Ave., Hollywood CA 90038. Print an address label here.

USPS is the most economical way to go. However, FedEx and UPS provide online tracking numbers, which is important to those who want more security (including us).

Photographers located internationally typically use DHL. We also see international post, which in some countries is very reliable (AusPost and CanadaPost get great reviews from our clients!) Please note on the outside of the box that film is inside.

We’ll email you as soon as it gets here. Make sure you give us the most up to date, accurate email address on the order form. This way you won’t miss a beat.

Reference names are pretty important! We need this for efficiency purposes and it also helps us track jobs. The reference name can be anything that helps you recognize what the order is for. It can also be the shoot name, date, etc.
